Armstrong’s Migrations Biobased Tile Honored With Two 2008 Symposium Distinction Awards
The highly esteemed competition honored design teams and individuals who have made a profound contribution to the healthcare design industry and also recognized the best and most innovative new products exhibited at the Symposium. “We are delighted with this prestigious honor. It’s reflective of the opinions of the members of the healthcare industry who chose Armstrong for its commitment to value, durability and design,” says Gwen Bogle, marketing manager, Healthcare, who accepted the awards on behalf of Armstrong. Armstrong MIGRATIONS™ BioBased Tile is made from limestone and a binder that uses Armstrong’s proprietary polymer BioStride™, made from domestically grown corn, a rapidly renewable resource. Developed at Armstrong’s Technology and Innovation Center in Lancaster, PA, the BioStride polymer replaces petroleum polymers, made from limited natural resources with polymers made from rapidly renewable ingredients. Armstrong BioBased Tile also uses 10 percent pre-consumer recycled material, diverting waste that would otherwise go to landfills. In addition to its environmental attributes, MIGRATIONS BioBased Tile features enhanced performance traits. In tests comparing it to standard composition tile, MIGRATIONS tile demonstrates five times more impact resistance and two-and-a-half times more crack resistance. |
